NC Opportunity Scholarship

Making Private Education Accessible for Every Family.

  • Must be a North Carolina resident.
  • Student must be at least 5 years old by August 31st or meet early entry requirements.
  • Household income must meet the guidelines set by the state (all families now eligible to apply, but priority is given based on income tiers).

WHO QUALIFIES?

  • Prior public school enrollment is no longer a requirement for all students.
  • Must NOT have graduated from high school or have earned a GED.
  • Open to students entering Kindergarten through 12th grade at Calvary Christian School.

What is the North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship?

The Opportunity Scholarship is a state-funded program that provides tuition assistance for eligible students in grades K-12 to attend a participating nonpublic school, such as Calvary Christian School.

How do I know if my family qualifies?

The program is now open to all North Carolina families. Scholarship amounts are determined by household income, with higher priority and award amounts given to families with lower income levels.

When is the application deadline?

The priority application period for 2026-2027 scholarships closed March 2. However, the Opportunity Scholarship application remains open for new students. Applications received after the priority period will be considered monthly in the order applications were submitted as funds are available. Don't wait! Apply now!

Does the scholarship cover the full cost of tuition?

Almost! Award amounts range based on income tier.  The scholarship covers about 94% of all tuition and fees for those who qualify for Tier 1.
